Frequently Asked Questions

Q.

Why do I have to wait at least 24 hours from purchase to submit online?

A.

Pep Boys uses the receipt information from the point of sale to verify and process your rebate.  This information is uploaded every morning into our system with the sales information from the previous day.  The 24 hour wait allows time for us to have your receipt information in our system.

Q.

I submitted online and wasn’t asked what rebates I wanted.  How do I know that my rebates will all be processed?

A.

Pep Boys uses your receipt information to find all items that are valid for a rebate and will process your rebate for all of them.

Q.

I submitted online and was given a pre-approved amount that is different from the actual amount I received.

A.

The pre-approved amount is based on all available rebate items from your receipt(s).  Depending on the offer requirements, you may receive a different amount upon final processing.
For example, you had brake service with ceramic brake pads. There is a rebate of $30 on the brake service and $10 on the ceramic brake pads, so the pre-approved amount was $40.  However, the ceramic brake pads rebate is for carry-out items only, so are not valid when part of the brake service.  Therefore, the actual rebate amount is $30.

Q.

I tried to submit online for my rebate, but am getting an error that says no offer was found for my receipt information.

A.

First you should verify that you entered all of your receipt information correctly, as this information all needs to be correct for us to get the point of sale information from your receipt.

If you are still getting this error, it may mean that the rebate you are looking for is a manufacturer sponsored rebate.  Online redemption is for Pep Boys sponsored rebates only.  You can go to http://www.pepboys.com/sale_specials/coupons to look for other available rebates, or you can contact check at the Service counter in your Pep Boys store.

Q.

Do I need to send the original receipt or a photocopy?

A.

You will need to review the terms and conditions on each rebate form to determine whether you need to send the original receipt. On most offers, Pep Boys asks only for a photocopy. If you send your original, always make a copy for yourself. You may also request a rebate receipt from the cashier.

If you are submitting online at www.pepboys.com/rebates you do not need to send in your receipt, but should keep a copy for your records.

Q.

What does it mean when the rebate form says "up to" a certain dollar amount?

A.

Rebate amounts of "up to" a certain dollar amount usually indicate that you will receive the dollar value originally paid for the product or service described in the rebate offer. For example, if you paid $7.49 for a product on rebate "up to 7.99", you will receive a rebate for $7.49.

Q.

If I submit multiple rebates on one offer form, how many rebates will I receive?

A.

Pep Boys consolidates all of your rebates into one.
For rebates of less than $5, you will receive a postcard check like this:

For rebates $5 and up, you will receive a Pep Boys Visa® Prepaid Card* like this:

These cards are mailed in a plain white envelope with Pep Boys in the upper left window.

*Cards are issued by Citibank, N.A. pursuant to a license from Visa U.S.A. Inc. and managed by Citi Prepaid Services.  Visa Prepaid Cards cannot be redeemed for cash and cannot be used for cash withdrawals.  Visa Prepaid Cards can be used everywhere Visa debit cards are accepted.  Visa Prepaid Cards expire 120 days after the date of issuance, which date will be shown on the front of each Card.

Q.

My rebate is now expired. If I send it in late, will I still receive the rebate?

A.

Rebates have specific terms that define the times during which they are valid. Unfortunately, if the postmark date has passed for your rebate, you will not be eligible for that rebate. Watch for future Pep Boys offers, check the dates and submit for your rebate promptly.

Q.

How do I get a rebate form?

A.

Pep Boys rebate forms are distributed by the cashier and can be found at the check-out counter at the front of the store, and at the Service counter.

You can also print a rebate form online at www.pepboys.com/rebates

Q.

Do I have to provide my e-mail address?

A.

No. An e-mail address is not required but it does allow us to provide you with status updates regarding your submissions.

Pep Boys keeps e-mail addresses confidential and never shares any part of your contact information with third parties.

Q.

How do I check the status of my submission?

A.

You can check the status of your rebate online at www.pepboys.com/rebates, or by calling 1-888-829-1420, Monday - Friday, 7 AM – 7 PM CST

Q.

I looked up my status online and it says my submission is "invalid." What does this mean?

A.

If your rebate is invalid it can be due to missing information such as a receipt not being sent with rebate form, if the receipt submitted was not dated within the rebate offer timeframe for that offer, or the items on the receipt are not valid for the offer you submitted to.

You will receive a non-compliance notification in the mail that will explain and provide instructions on how the situation can be corrected.
